In Delaware, there is a high concentration of medically-fragile children due to the proximity of pediatric hospitals, including Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Children come from all across the country to receive treatment at these two facilities. Families often spend weeks to months away from their homes in order to be with their children during treatment. Sometimes parents are forced to leave their jobs or even relocate.

There is a tremendous amount of pressure on both the child and their family. The stress that their circumstances cause affects everyone, including the child, not only mentally but physically. Our goal is to offer programs such as Adopt-a- Family and Milestones that will help alleviate some of the burden families’ face.
